Hi ladies, mark your calendar for the second Women Who Wine™ “Uncorked Conversations” event at Off The Mile restaurant on May 24th (@offthemilegables on Instagram). The initial "Uncorked Conversations" at The Loft 305 on April 27th was wine-tastic. Check it out here.

Join us for a Cuban-inspired food and wine pairing with real conversations. Guest speaker, Nikki Novo (@NikkiNovo), spiritual mentor and medium will open up the conversation on spirituality and the role it plays in our daily lives and challenges. Pairing will be led by Pablo Suarez (@TheWineMaverick).

With 4 years of wine sales experience and WSET Level 2 certified, Pablo describes himself as a millennial wine lover on a mission to shy away from stuffy pretenses in order to make wine fun and approachable (YESS! About Off The Mile

Connected to Vicky Bakery Coral Gables, Off The Mile Restaurant has become a local favorite with its homey-like vibe. Serving up Cuban cuisine by day and Italian cuisine by night, expect owner, Michael Belaustegui (who wears many hats) or his business partner to sit with you for a dining experience like no other.

The Menu 

6:30 pm to 7 pm: Welcome Bites and Wine

Croquetas (YESS!) paired with Benvolio, Prosecco (NV)

Benvolio Prosecco is an excellent expression of both the variety and the Friuli terroir. This wine is a sharp golden straw color with bubbles that are finely textured and persistent. The nose shows fresh citrus with slight hints of honey and fresh flowers. Vibrant on the palate, the crisp acidity acts as a counterpoint to the flavors of ripe citrus, fresh peaches, lemon, green apples and grapefruit. The finish is light, refreshing, and crisp.

7 pm to 8 pm: Appetizer and Main Course

Cuban Frita Slider 


Frita Sliders and Crema de Malanga paired with La Crema, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Rose petals, pipe tobacco, cranberry, and pine on the nose. Red cherry, black tea, mocha, and pomegranate on the palate. Balanced and supple, with a spicy finish.

Main Course:

Choice of Beef or Chicken Vaca Frita with white rice and maduros paired with Freemark Abbey Winery, Napa Valley Merlot

Rich texture conveys vivid fruit and mocha flavors through a long finish. Ages in a combination of small French and American oak barrels.

8 pm to 9 pm: Dessert and Real Conversations

Assorted pastelitos de guayaba and queso (I know, get excited!) paired with Crowded House, Sauvignon Blanc.

The resulting 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is quintessentially Marlborough in profile with bright aromas of guava, citrus fruits, black currant and sweet crushed herbs. The palate is elegantly proportioned with lovely soft acid carrying the fruit flavors to a long, pure finish.
